Commemorating the Seiko-supported “Datsun 240Z” Safari car that won the 6,200km East African Safari Rally in 1971, widely regarded as one of the toughest races in the world, this highly collectible Limited Edition is available only in a controlled production run of 500 pieces. Featuring a font and color motif modeled after the original safari car instruments, the black dial, framed by a tachymeter bezel, prominently displays the Datsun logo as well as the word “Speedtimer,” honoring Seiko’s legacy of sports timing. Providing chronograph measurement of up to 12 hours of elapsed time in 1/8-second increments, the proprietary caliber 8R48 34-jewel automatic movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, with a power reserve of approximately 45 hours and manual winding capability. The movement incorporates a column wheel and vertical clutch mechanism allowing for smooth, stutter-free movement of the chronograph hand while providing long-term efficiency, reducing wear and tear and maintaining the power reserve during chronograph operation. For reliable timing, the three-pointed hammer system ensures that all hands return to zero instantly and in perfect synchronization when the re-set pusher is pressed. In stainless steel, with black hard coating for a stealthy look, topped with a dual-curved sapphire crystal and paired with a black leather strap sourced from an LWG certified tannery, this amazing creation includes a date calendar, LumiBrite hands and markers, a tri-fold push button release clasp, and a secure screwdown caseback engraved with the Datsun logo and the Limited Edition production number. Such a wonderful experience. It was my husband and my 16 year wedding anniversary on the day we walked into the store. We weren’t expecting to find a beautiful band with my taste and in our budget. However, the owner and his son Sterling were very helpful and patient. Sterling has excellent taste and such a calm demeanor. We really felt comfortable and the owner gave us a great deal for our anniversary I will never forget this experience. They even fixed my engagement ring by replacing a stone that had originally fallen out and they also tightened all the prongs because the main diamond was wobbling in danger of coming loose. They did this all same day within a couple hours while I looked for my anniversary band! This meant so much to me because I hadn’t been able to wear my engagement ring for many years and I thought it would be super expensive to fix. The last time I went to a fast fix place and paid close to $1,500. They did a terrible job and replacing one of the small diamonds that had fallen out with a dark dirty dark diamond that didn’t match the rest of the diamonds on the band of my engagement ring…After that I was so disappointed and discouraged to take my ring again somewhere to fix it. But Dejuan’s totally took care of me and I paid under $200 to replace the small dirty diamond and fix the damage the fax fix place caused. To walk out on my 16 year wedding anniversary finally able to wear my engagement ring after so many years of keeping it in the drawer… ugh I can’t tell you how sooo thankful I am for good honest people and professionals!
